Three views from my childhood home.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

I grew up in the Sunset in San Francisco and remember sunny days being a rare treat as fog generally covers the area.  But this past weekend, when I was home for my friend Ashley’s lovely bridal shower, it was gorgeous out by my parents’ house and I realized something.

I can see the ocean, the Golden Gate bridge, and Coit tower from the top of the block just by turning in three two different directions.  I can’t believe it’s taken me 25 years to see this.  (Ok, I have been sweetly informed by my brother that it’s just a radio tower.  I guess you can’t see Coit tower from my parents’ house.  This just proves I have the worst sense of direction and have no idea where Coit tower is…)I’m missing San Francisco.

Dallas is great and I am so glad for the opportunity to spend two months down here really getting to know the area and the feel of the city.  But sometimes, like today, when I get on the wrong bus after work and spend 15 minutes traveling in the wrong direction before my growing unease prompts me to get off, then have to take another bus half an hour back the other direction and literally feel myself die in the 105-degree heat as I walk 5 blocks to my townhouse, I really miss San Francisco.

I miss the cool temperatures, I miss the other 9/10ths of my wardrobe collecting dust in my downtown apartment, I miss my cats, my bed, the gelato shop down the street, and Cup a Joe.  And when Michael finally gets back to San Francisco in two weeks, I’ll miss being in SF with him.

I do really love my internship with Prudential though.  And all the baths I’ve been taking.  The tub in my bathroom is awesome.  And just because, here is a picture of Cleo that I took over the weekend. She’s the cutest.  Thankfully the cats love my parents’ house.  They’ve already spent over 2 months total there this year.

Dinner at Sun King Steakhouse, Day 6.

It’s our last day on this cruise vacation and it’s Michael’s 30th birthday.  I’m a little sad that the fun is ending, but my waist is happy that the gluttony will be coming to a stop.  I think I’ve gained 10 pounds in the last couple of days.Since it is Michael’s 30th birthday, we decided to have a special dinner tonight at the Sun King Steakhouse.

First though, we played more zombie-shooting games at the arcade.  Then, I convinced Michael to try on his fake mustache.  I about died laughing.  He wasn’t so amused, but I think it was because I placed the mustache in the wrong spot and it was a little too high.  Best present ever.At the Sun King Steakhouse dining room, we had a table right by the window and a clear view of the sun setting.  Beautiful.  Our courses were delicious.  Michael somehow managed to put away an 18-oz steak and 2/3rds of a 14-oz cheesecake slice.  I was more than impressed.Tomorrow he flies back to Lima, Peru and I go back to Dallas, Texas.

Goodnight all.

xoxo,

Jenn
