Cleopatra and Miaosie are my two little cats that keep me company while Michael is gone on business trips. While they aren’t good for much besides waking me up at 6 a.m. every morning, Cleopatra is at least fluffy and cuddly. Miaosie is a gremlin.

Rosa, Michael’s great-aunt (?), made me a torta chilena to send us off back to the States. So delicious. Even better than the one I had at Spoon a week ago. I had a wedge with breakfast.
Speaking of breakfast, Nidia made Michael and I one last platter of gallo pinto and salad. It’s going to be awhile before I get the real, authentic thing again. My gallo pinto never turns out the same.
The rest of the morning has been spent on goodbyes – both to people and to the numerous pets. I’m going to miss the kittens. I don’t know whether I’ll miss Pituka’s face though. Nor her piglet snorts and snuffles.
Off to the airport. See you when I’m back in San Francisco.
