Two adults set loose in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.

Michael and I spent almost 8 hours in the Magic Kingdom today.  In retrospect, we should have gone to Universal Studios and done the Harry Potter ride, but Disney is still just as magical as it was when I was a child.  Perhaps a little more because I appreciate the details now.  Disney World has a lot of the same rides as the Disney Land in Los Angeles so we might have been thrilled a little more by new rollercoasters in one of the other parks.

But, I still had an amazing day.You probably recognize a couple of these rides.  We got to Disney World soon after it opened and were able to beat the crowds for the most part.  I don’t think we ever had to wait more than 20 minutes for a ride.

Favorite?  Definitely Space Mountain.  The Buzz Lightyear ride was also pretty darn entertaining.  I didn’t know the guns on the buggy were supposed to be used to shoot targets until the ride was almost half over so Michael definitely outscored me.  We watched a parade and I totally geeked out at the princessess.  I waved so hard at them.  But if you just stare at them and tune out the music, they all look pretty insane and more than just a little creepy.  So spastic and forced.  I love that Disney’s message is all about dreaming big and following your heart.  And princesses are always pretty.Michael and I were so tired after a full day in the Magic Kingdom.  I don’t know how kids do it.  We boarded a coach from Orlando to Fort Lauderdale in anticipation of embarking on our cruise tomorrow.

See you soon.

Downtown Disney in Orlando, Florida.

Michael met me in the Orlando airport this morning and we were off to start our week-long vacation celebrating his 30th birthday.  We’re staying at the Wyndham Grand Orlando Resort tonight and carousing through Disney World tomorrow.  I don’t know if I’ll be able to sleep because I’m so excited.
The Wyndham is gorgeous and enormous.  I think there are six hotels, all with their own pools, surrounding a large lake.  We checked out all the pools and the water slides before cabbing to Downtown Disney.I may be 25, but Disney’s still got the magic.  I know it’s going to be even more magical tomorrow at Disney World.  Michael and I browsed through the stores with Disney characters everywhere and I couldn’t help but feel that same sense of wonder I felt when I was young.  I loved seeing all the kids around gasp in awe at a lot of the displays. Orlando is warm and humid and smells like vacation.  It’s the first time I’ve been to Florida and it seems like it’s thunderstorm season right now because the skies are overcast and pregnant with rain.  Very much like Dallas.  It’s no big deal though because even if we get rained on, it’s so warm out that we’ll dry quickly. We both got in touch with our inner child today.  Looking forward to more of that tomorrow.  Only a couple of days before Michael is officially 30.

xoxo,

Jenn
