This above all, to thine ownself be true.

Just got home and settled in bed from a 3 and a half hour long Hamlet at CalShakes in Orinda.  It’s been just over a month since we’ve seen a show there even though it feels much longer since I’ve started school again.  Though the play was long, I was captivated.

It felt so good just to turn my brain off, enjoy the actors, and eat tons of good snacks.  I’ve been having weird cravings for that “flaming-hot” flavor.Michael always seems to pack me the TINIEST wine glass every time we go see a CalShakes play.  My theory is he does this so he can claim the lion’s share of the bottle.  Feels like I’m drinking out of a thimble.  Time to lay this weary head down to rest!

Calshakes’ Blithe Spirit.

Michael and I have had a day jam-packed with two tastings (caterers for the wedding), driving in traffic all over the Bay Area, and finally a play tonight in Orinda.  Can’t wait to recap the tastings in posts soon.  We learned so much and I can really see the wedding taking form right before my eyes.It was actually hideously hot out and my ugly faux fur coat was honestly nothing more than a hindrance.  Unusual because usually Calshakes’ plays all require a thick jacket and a heavy blanket since they are performed outdoors up in the hills at the Bruns Amphitheatre in Orinda.

When we got there, Michael wanted me to pretend to hitchhike.  I obliged.Regardless of ridiculous hitchhiking activities brought about by sitting in traffic for far too long, Blithe Spirit was a smash.A story about a man whose first wife’s ghost comes back to haunt him and his second wife after a seance gone wrong.  Hilariously entertaining.

xoxo,

Jenn
