Dinner date at Baker & Banker.

Michael is leaving April 2 for Lima, Peru.  For three months.  I did have a temporary freak-out moment since this is going to be, by far, the longest time we’ve ever spent apart, but we’ve planned several dates in the time he has left in San Francisco.Tonight, Michael took me out to a restaurant I’ve been wanting to try for quite some time.  Baker & Banker,  a New American cuisine restaurant opened up by a husband and wife team on Bush and Octavia.  They have a bakery right next door too that always smells divine.

Unfortunately, I committed a major blogger faux pas and didn’t charge my camera before leaving for dinner.  Of course my camera died just as we got to the restaurant.  The rest of the pictures are courtesy of Michael’s smartphone. For starters I got the grilled octopus and Michael got the pork belly.  Definitely get the pork belly.  It was fantastic.  My octopus was a little too soft.  Didn’t have quite enough of a chew to stand up to the potatoes and bitter arugula.

Entrees were a lamb trio for Michael and the seared flounder for me.  The couscous was great, but Michael didn’t like his dish so much.  I think he’s just not a fan of lamb though and it wasn’t the entree’s fault.

I ordered the coconut cream pie for dessert and Michael got the guava cheesecake.  Both pretty wonderful.  I wanted to try the XXX chocolate cake too. Baker & Banker was fun to try, but I don’t know that Michael and I would go back.  It was pretty loud in there and though our dinner probably would have only taken two hours, I felt like we were rushed out at the end.  It’s a small restaurant with limited tables so I understand that they need to turn the tables at least once, but it didn’t leave me with the best feeling.

More fun times coming up!

Love and Law School – Have you set the date yet?

Michael and I have been engaged for a little over a month. We’ve fielded a dozen “When are you getting married?” questions.

The short answer is “Never.”

The longer answer is “Maybe in 2015.”

The longest answer is “Well, we’re going to wait probably until at least 2015 because Jennifer doesn’t want to get hitched in 2014 when she graduates law school since that’ll be the big event that year, and then she’ll hopefully be starting a job, and there’s the bar exam etc. etc.”

What about getting married in law school?

Clearly too difficult to plan a wedding amid classes, job-searching, networking and getting my lawyer on. Eeeesh.

So basically the real answer right now is “Not sure.”

After exams are over, I’ll have a better idea of how much time I need to put into law school to do as well as I expect myself to do. And maybe I will actually manage to plan a wedding in law school. We shall see.

I had my last Torts class today.

How did my first semester fly by?

xoxo,

Jenn
