We are here!
I am super, super excited to be spending New Year’s Eve and New Year’s in British Columbia, Canada. It’s my first time this far up north and everything I’ve heard about Vancouver is true. It is breathtakingly gorgeous – so clear and crisp. The hostel we’re staying at tonight is also the most adorable thing ever. Urban Hideaway Guesthouse is the oldest house in B.C. or something like that, but it really just feels like a homey bed-and-breakfast. There are also two big grey cats running around. One is enormously fat.
We are attending a black-tie party tonight at Hotel Georgia to ring in the new year and I can’t wait to get into my dress.
I tried the poutine already. Maybe it’s because I bought it from a street cart vendor, but it tastes exactly like ordinary fries drenched in KFC mashed potato gravy with little bits of cheese. Definitely tasty, but not something completely unusual.
Vancouver is a very walkable city which is great because Michael and I love a good trek. We got through only a small part of Stanley Park though and are planning on going back tomorrow.
Such beautiful views. I’d stay and chat more, but it’s New Year’s Eve and I have a party to get ready for! Have a great time tonight and Happy New YEAR! Here’s a cat picture for you.
You can’t even really see how tubby this feline is. Just trust me.
xoxo,
Jenn

/ January 7, 2013My fiance and I loved Vancouver. We were there when it was perfectly clear and sunny out. It started raining just as we left – perfect timing

/ January 7, 2013Thanks so much for the offer! I think we’re doing Tahiti and Bora Bora for our honeymoon, but if we are ever up there again, I’ll take you up on that offer. We are thinking about adopting a sled dog from Whistler a couple years in the future so may be making a trip up there again.
