Repeat favorite at The Libertine.

I know I’ve already been to The Libertine and should probably try a new restaurant in the time I have left in Texas, but half off the menu on Tuesdays from 4 p.m. ’til midnight when the food is super tasty?  Can’t be beat.

Plus, since I leave Dallas in a few short days, I really needed to have one last perfectly crisp and battered portabello fry.  Ok, who am I kidding, I needed an entire last plate of portabello fries.  If you love mushrooms, get them. Also, since Michael detests mushrooms, this is probably the last little ‘shroom I’ll eat for a good, long while.

My lovely roommate, Caitlin, was kind enough to accompany me to dinner where I forcibly grabbed the check from her and treated her because she is such a peach and agreed to drive me to the airport at the crack of dawn on Saturday.  As a nursing student at Baylor (the best hospital in Dallas) doing an accelerated program, she values her sleeping-in time on the weekends.Goodnight, I need to let the fries digest.

M-ondays: Sailing Once Again

It has been over four months since I last took the helm, worked the lines,  or motored around on a sailboat. Sean and I have been trying to get out on the water for the past couple of weeks but between the weather and our schedules getting some “sail time” has been a challenge. Fortunately for us the stars aligned today.

The outing was far from smooth sailing. The first hour we were fighting with the lines and the sails. Stupidly, we tried to raise the main while the 1st set of reef ties were still tied up. We finally figured it out but during the elimination process we loosened the jib halyard. So when we raised the jib the sheet looked horrible. We thought we had Genoa. After we figured out the problem, we got our sails raised and trimmed only to enjoy a massive dose of weather helm. In the end, to reef and reduce the jib just to get the boat working nicely.

It was great getting back out there. Now Sean and I are going to try to get more time in so we don’t look like pinchers out there.

Strength and Honor,

M
