The Peruvian Googlers decided to take me out to lunch today because it is one of the last days the entire team is together before I head back to The States. I love traditional Peruvian food so the team wanted to take me to José Antonio because they are known for their Peruvian fare. After our team meeting, I stayed in the conference room to finish up some work while everyone headed back to the main office. I finished up some loose ends, went back in the office, and everyone is gone.
I thought to myself, “No way they left me. I am the reason we are having lunch.”
It turns out, yes, they did leave me. The team took two cars and each group thought I was with the other. Even when they arrived at the restaurant, the group that arrived second thought I was playing a joke and was hiding in the bathroom of the restaurant.
Well, I guess I was hiding. Back in the office.
I ended up taking a taxi all on my own. Which leads me to the title – Mi Pobre Angelito is the translation for the movie Home Alone. Before today’s event, I could not believe someone would be left behind because of sloppy logistics. I guess there is a first for everything and it’s a good story too.
Chow-wise – it was great. José Antonio has a high-end buffet line with all my favorites – Lomo Saltado, Tacu Tacu, Palta, and Ceviche. I even had a Pisco Sour to wash everything down. Does not get more Peruvian than that.
Even better than the chow, is the team. They are “muy chevere” - Peruvian slang for awesome. Some of the topics we chatted about were Sebastian’s lack of conquests, Gianfranco’s swagger wagon, and what we are planning to do to close out the quarter strong. All over the place, but definitely a lively and fun conversation. I am really going to miss them.
I am off to Buenos Aires this Wednesday. I can’t wait to check out the city and devour me some beef.
Strength and Honor,
