Attorneys Serving the Community luncheon in Dallas, TX.

I’m waiting at the Dallas Fort Worth airport on a delayed flight.  Sigh…seems like I was just at the airport.  Oh wait, I was.  San Francisco awaits so teasingly close.

Let’s back up though.  My mentor at Prudential took me to a luncheon today put on by Attorneys Serving the Community and benefiting the Trinity River Mission program.  ASC was started a couple of decades ago by women attorneys who were too busy to volunteer their time, but wanted to give back to the community in some way.  TRM provides disadvantaged youth in West Dallas with reading, critical thinking skills, and other tools that they can use to succeed in school.  Today, ASC’s efforts this year culminated in almost $250,000 to TRM.  Insane.

It was a very inspiring and touching event and immediately made me want to volunteer or join a similar organization in San Francisco.  The keynote speaker was Sonia Manzano, Maria from Sesame Street.  I didn’t watch too much TV when I was young so didn’t know who she was, but she was a great speaker. I bought one of her children’s books for my goddaughter Charli and got it personalized.

Alright, back to eating my Strawberry Fields salad and fried green beans at TGIF.  Two more hours until boarding time.  :(  See you in San Francisco. At least there is free wifi.  Toodleloo.

xoxo,

Jenn
