I am signed up for Constitutional Law II, Evidence, Appellate Advocacy, Federal Income Tax of Corporations and Partnerships, and Financial Basics for Lawyers.
Even though I did not enjoy ConLaw I this past semester, I’m taking ConLaw II because my Moot Court competition topic is constitutional law-based and ConLaw II is also a recommended course for the Bar. Hopefully it is nothing like ConLaw I. Evidence is also a recommended Bar course.
Appellate Advocacy is required for all Moot Court team members. Yay…
But, the class I’m most excited for is actually my corporations tax class. I took Federal Income Tax last semester and the same professor is teaching the Corporations class this Fall. She is amazing. I can’t believe I’m excited about taking such a dry-sounding class and I know it’s supposed to be extremely difficult, but I’m looking forward to seeing how my professor makes the topic interesting and approachable.
I think that I’m going to be pursuing some type of business-related law career whether it be tax, contracts, transactional, or litigation. Or I might just try to join the FBI. You never know.
The last class I’m considering is Financial Basics. Pros: it’s only a 2-unit class, is pass/fail, my same awesome tax professor is teaching, and I do want to get a solid foundation in business since my background is in the humanities. Cons: it would be my only class on Friday thus ruining a semester’s worth of 3-day weekends, and it is an extra load that I really probably won’t need with everything else that’ll be going on this Fall. On-campus interviews, Moot Court practices and competitions, job applications, class, wedding planning, a bit of traveling and life. We’ll see.
In the meantime, Dallas is still hot, I get back to my townhouse drenched in sweat from walking literally 3 blocks from where the bus drops me off. And I am going home to San Francisco tomorrow evening for a friend’s bridal shower this weekend! Can’t wait to smush my kitty Cleo’s fuzzy face in.
xoxo,
Jenn
