Michael and I had a couple of excursions planned in Key West today. Kayaking the mangrove tree islands and snorkeling. The water was a very clear and warm 85 degrees, our guides were awesome, and the fish were everywhere.

I loved that our kayak was clear so we could see through the bottom to the sea grass two inches below us.

Our 40 minutes of snorkeling worked up such an appetite that we ordered 2 dozen oysters for lunch and conch fritters. The oysters were $0.50 a piece, we couldn’t resist. Key West has tons of small touristy shops and we browsed around after lunch to kill some time. I was captivated by the old wooden buoys.

Michael got a slice of chocolate-dipped key lime pie from Kermitt’s. Apparently the store has been featured on many TV shows and is famous. I hate citrus-flavored desserts so took a bite just to taste. Michael thought it was very yummy. What was more up my alley was the hot sauce shop we passed. This is totally a must-do in Key West. They let you taste a bajillion hot sauces until you feel like your head is going to blow off, but the adrenaline rush and flavors are incredible.
Since Michael’s 30th birthday is Friday, I’ve been giving him little presents for the last couple of days. Today’s gift was a fake mustache. Probably the most awesome present ever. I usually am a terrible gift giver, but I was pretty proud of myself for this one. That is, I was until Michael saw it and did not think it was awesome. If he’s not going to wear it, I will.

Toodle-loo. We are exhausted from trying to learn how to dance Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” Much more difficult than anticipated.
xoxo,
Jenn
