Embarking Carnival Freedom, Day 1.

I can see why people retire in Florida.  The weather is gorgeous and the beaches so warm and inviting.  We spent the night at the Atlantic Resort in a gorgeous Oceanview King suite overlooking the pool and the ocean.  It was beautiful.  Michael and I hung out for an hour or so by the pool until it was time to head to Port Everglades and get on our cruise ship!Just as beautiful is our top deck balcony suite on the Carnival Freedom.  Michael splurged for the cabin because we are celebrating his 30th birthday after all.  I’ve never stayed in such a spacious cruise cabin.  The view from our balcony is amazing.Michael hasn’t been on a cruise since he was 17, fully 13 years ago.  I went on a cruise to Mexico with my sorority sisters in college back in 2009, and so far, we are having the best time ever.  The food is great.  I can already tell I’m going to be in trouble with the desserts.

The decor though is unbelievably ridiculous.  We walked in and Michael said that the ship looked like a 70′s porn set.  I kind of think it looks like Art Deco got really drunk and threw up all over itself.  Combined with a 70′s porn set.

We are planning to fully enjoy the amenities.  The gym is great and it also has a sauna and steam room.  You know where I’ll be tomorrow afternoon.

Dinner was lovely.  My tofu “steak” was actually delicious.
We enjoyed a ballroom dancing lesson, karaoke, the piano bar, a welcome show and a little bit of comedy after dinner.  Along with several white russians for me and a couple of drinks for Michael.  I’m channeling the Big Lebowski.Key West is tomorrow along with a bit of kayaking.  Thank goodness we are hitting the gym and plan to continue to do so.  Because if we don’t, I have a feeling we’re going to be two fat blimps by the end of this vacation.

Goodnight and sleep tight!

xoxo,
