Raining like the sky is falling down.

Who knew Dallas has giant thunderstorms?  Well, probably everyone who lives in Texas, but I certainly didn’t know.

Texas also has tornadoes by the way, something I found out from my mentor while standing in her office on the 25th floor cringing as I watched lightening and sheets of water crash into the ground.  There’s just so much sky out there.  I’m not used to being able to see such a giant expanse of sky because there’s always trees, or buildings, or hills in the way in San Francisco.

Watching so much rain fall from that huge, lightening-struck sky was a little unnerving. I feel like I’ve finally hit somewhat of my stride here and can start producing something of value which is a relief.  The anxiety has quieted down a little.

I sat in on a conference call today and my mentor used so many of the phrases I’ve only so far read in my Contracts book.  ”Cure defect,” “material defect,” “scrivener’s error,” “recourse,” and “non-recourse.”  It was thrilling and really made me want to be a real practicing attorney. My mentor, Deborah, put me in touch with a coworker’s daughter and we met up tonight to chat at Samar, an Indian restaurant located right underneath my building.  Mary Anne just finished her first year of law school at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and is a native Dallasite.  (That’s what they call them down here.)  A pretty cool girl.  I think we’re going to be friends.

I’m liking my internship so far and excited to learn more and absorb as much as I can.  But I am just as excited to see Michael on Friday in Orlando, Florida too.  Maybe a teensy bit more excited to see him.  But only because we’re going to Disneyworld and on a Caribbean cruise.

Ok, time for bed.  It is lightening and thundering here like crazy.  I feel like I’m in the middle of the movie Twister.

xoxo,

Jenn
