Civil Procedure and Constitutional Law are behind me. Criminal Law looms large – the final is Friday morning. And Federal Income Tax still waits next Tuesday. Hard to imagine that I’ll be in Lima, Peru by the end of next week visiting Michael. I cannot wait to be done with finals. My brain feels like a really old, used Tupperware container. Leaky, thin on the plastic, and cloudy.
My brother Chris started his first post-undergraduate job a couple of weeks ago and he decided to take our grandparents out tonight with his first paycheck. Mumsies is in Taiwan visiting her dad so it was just me and Chris, Dad, and the grandparents. My grandpa is 83 and my grandma isn’t far behind him. She’s the teeniest thing ever. Barely hits 90 pounds.

We’ve all been to Hakka restaurant before, it’s off Anza somewhere in the outer Richmond, and the food is always really good. Sometimes Chinese food can be a bit of a cliche, and a bad one at that, but Hakka does it right. It’s always flavorful, authentic (at least to me), and they’ve got a huge variety of dishes.

The waitress gaped at us when my dad just kept ordering. I think we ended up with over 10 dishes for five people, two of whom are in their 80s. We actually ate almost everything. My waist doesn’t know whether to be impressed or pained.
My grandma ate the insides of the crab. I don’t know whether it’s guts, or roe, or stuffing, but she seemed to love it.

The clams were the highlight of the evening. They were so fat, juicy and plump. Chris basically drank the sauce. Guess who ordered that dish. Yep.
Goodnight, gotta start studying.
xoxo,
Jenn
