Scents, sushi, and shopping in Los Angeles.

I had a wonderful time at Jenny Yoo with Ellen as my consultant. Ellen is actually the designer’s sister and she was amazing. The dress I think I’m going to end up with is the first dress she picked out with me in mind. She knows her stuff.
Reyann had to run to catch a flight, but Kayla and I ended up next door at the Scent bar purchasing new Parisian perfumes for ourselves. The wedding dress shopping left us both in an expansive mood. Now I smell like musky, spicy gardenia and Kayla smells like light, floral, citrusy gardenia.

Sugarfish was fantastic. We got omakase and the fish was the best sashimi I’ve had in a while. Toby from the Office sat two tables to our right.

Next up was one of Kayla’s favorite places on earth. Marcia Cross and Dustin Hoffman apparently like Brentwood Country Mart too. Three celebrity sightings in a day is kind of high even for Los Angeles. I guess we were just in the right place at the right time. It’s been a long time since I’ve hung out with my best friend all day. It’s been a long time since we laughed and giggled and joked around and did nothing. It was the best day ever.

Wedding – Dress shopping with the bridal party.

Best day ever.

I had appointments at Monique Lhuillier and Jenny Yoo with 2/3rds of my bridal party today. Kristan’s in Atlanta and I didn’t want to put her out for this really last-minute impromptu trip to Los Angeles.

Monique Lhuillier was fantastic just because I’m such a fan of lace. There was an open-back dress that I really loved and Kayla, my matron-of-honor, was all about it. It was termed “the dress to beat.” I think Reyann said that if I didn’t want to pay the $5k+ price tag, she’d pay the difference. Big words.

We left Monique feeling good and went into Jenny Yoo with somewhat low expectations. I’d looked at a couple of their dresses online and Jenny Yoo’s aesthetic is very simple and clean. She modernizes traditional dresses, but I always thought I was a little fussier. I made an appointment with her because I wanted to try on completely different styles though.

Best choice ever.Obviously the dress above isn’t “the one.” It was a very pretty gown and I liked the improvised sleeves a lot, but there was another that stole my heart. I’m 98% sure it’s the dress. Now the only problem is comparing it to the first champagne-colored lace number I tried on in San Francisco. If there’s no comparison, it’ll be easy. I’ll be wearing Jenny Yoo. But if it’s a close call, I don’t know what I’ll do.

Kayla and Reyann, my future sister-in-law, and Kayla’s parents will be in San Francisco the first week of April so I’m going to make an appointment to try on that champagne dress again for everyone to see.

So close!

xoxo,
Jenn

P.S. The “best day ever” continues!
