Law school is supposedly the beginning of your law career. That’s partly why I “dress up” every day and try to look professional. You never know who you’re going to meet or whether you’ll be cold-called in class. It pays to look smart. At least that’s what I tell myself. And then I cross my fingers and hope it’s true.
Still, I wore a blue blouse and a black skirt today. Yes, the blue blouse has a bajillion ruffles on it and the black skirt has an origami front and pockets. And I wore bow-patterned tights. Even though the overall effect is pretty “work-friendly,” I would never wear this to a real job.
Law school professional is not the same as real job professional.
However, it was pulled together enough for my first day doing taxes for the community. I’m a certified volunteer with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program and volunteered for 3 hours Tuesday evening. My first day went very well – I helped two people file their taxes with the IRS. Can’t wait to do more.
