I am that, that I am.

Black and white palette this week – Monday:
My yoga teacher, Wataya Roberson,  said some thought-provoking words today. She’s wonderful, really. Always full of encouragement and tells us constantly that we’re marvelous, glorious, and should sparkle our beautiful faces and shine our hearts out to the world. I know, maybe a little woo-woo, but sometimes it’s exactly what I need to hear.

Today, what she said to me wasn’t even part of our practice, but I’ve been thinking about it since.

I was sitting on the mat and one of the other girls in class said to me,

Rachel: “You were awesome in Tax today!” [about my cold call that I aced this morning]

Me: “Oh, well I went to office hours yesterday and asked Professor Field a couple of questions about the material she covered today. I think she called on me because she knew I knew the answer.”

Wataya: “Say ‘Thank you!’ No explanations or excuses, own it.”

She is so right.

Continuing the color scheme – Tuesday:

It happened again halfway through class.

While we were doing handstands against the wall, my partner said,

“I love your white nails.”

Me: “I did those last night instead of reading for CivPro.”

Why was my first reaction to deflect the compliment? I feel like so many women are like this. I should’ve just said “Thank you so much.”

I’m going to work on this.

And all of you out there, you are amazing. You are lovely. You are exactly where you need to be.

xoxo,

Jenn

M-ondays: Back to School

Mondays are now long days for me because I have to be at work at 8AM and I don’t get home till 10PM. I am coming home at such a late hour because I am continuing my Spanish education. Tonight, was my first class in 2A and it seems more intense than the previous two classes I have taken. Every three weeks I have an exam for a total of four, but that’s not all because I also have a final at the  end of the semester. The worst part,  35% of my grade is based on participation so I don’t think I can swing to many work trips this quarter. That means I will be staying in SF most of the time, which is not to shabby when I am treated to this.

My financee stayed up to make me an awesome meal. She marinated a pork chop in olive oil and coconut milk with a bunch a spices for 2 hours. I really liked the creamy flavor. She also made my favorite – rice and beans, and a spicy vegetable medley. It filled the room with such an enticing aroma that Miaosie wanted to get in on the action. :)

Lets see what I get next week!

Strength and Honor,

M
