M-ondays: Captain’s School – Part 2

Sailing is amazing. I just love being out in the bay soaking in the epic views with the wind beating upon my face. To be honest, I was a littler nervous before my class this past Sunday because of certification exams. It turned out to be unwarranted because  Sean and I aced our practical and written sailing exams. I passed all of my sailing skills on the first try, and even the “man over board” procedure, which is no joke.

Now that first exams are behind us, we can charter sailing boats anywhere but in San Francisco. I know that seems weird because I took and passed the class in the bay.

Sailing in the bay is not for armatures, which is why clubs require more training before they allow anyone to sail a boat. In the bay you have to deal with barges, traffic, tides, currents, fog, and changing wind.

The reason I bring this up is because I am actually in Chicago on business and the view from my hotel overlooks Lake Michigan. What did I see – plenty of lake and not a lot of sail boats. I watched for few minutes and I did not see one boat tack to move away from anything, which made me think it’s easy to sail here. I am so bummed that  I will not have the opportunity to take a boat out. :(

Luckily, I will not have to wait to long until my next fix because Sean and I will be back at it this weekend attending our class.

Strength and Honor,

M

Sunday brunch at Sugar Cafe.

Sundays are for fun, relaxation and recharging. That’s just my way of trying to appease the guilty feeling in my chest that’s been festering since I haven’t done much homework this weekend. Instead of reading, I went out to brunch with a few girls. Sugar Cafe happy hour = good. Sugar Cafe brunch = middling. Then I went shopping. Because I really needed new gym and yoga pants. And a really cute open-backed dark denim dress. Again, I rationalized this procrastination trip by buying M some goodies too. Anything to get out of law school reading right? His rationale is that he doesn’t need any new clothes and doesn’t want them. But every time I get him anything, he is always so excited. He might be wearing that sweater tomorrow. And don’t worry, that’s not an actual outfit for M. It’s a thin sweater and workout shorts.

I think I might get “cold-called” tomorrow in Contracts class. I have a feeling!
