Farmer’s market fresh.

Before shopping for what I termed “law school essentials,” Mumsies and I went to the Civic Center Farmer’s Market to grab the week’s produce for Michael and me. We saw Farmer Joe looking super svelte and strong with a giant box of tomatoes on his shoulder. M’s role is to act as pack mule. I pick out veggies and fruit, he hauls it around after I pay for it. We got pretty good stuff today. Again, for $20. Those melons in the back right of the picture are ridiculous. The huge one is a calabasas, I believe, and only cost $5. Insane. It was seriously gigantic. I split it in half with Mom. Coconut curry was on the menu tonight.

For extra flavor, I suffered through denuding my new basil plant. The leaves were so tasty, maybe it tastes better because I picked them myself. I hope more leaves spring up.Nothing like farmer’s market fresh produce!

Back-to-school shopping, Part Two.

Mumsies took pity on me. She took me shopping today because law school starts in a week and I told her I needed to look extra-smart. Four hours, three pairs of flats, and a maxi dress later, I returned home happier and $0 poorer. Thanks Mom. I’ve wanted a maxi dress for ages and finally got my whimsical, casual yet stylish, look. :)

Since I’m going to be doing a ton of walking to and from Hastings, I needed a few pairs of new flats. I’ve already worn all of my current pairs into the ground and they are sorta holey. Mumsies found the white pair of Calvin Kleins for me and they were really perfect. So soft and comfy, the cushioning feels like a giant sock on my feet.

“They feel like diapers on my tootsies, Mom!”

I think she was amused.Sorry for the ugly feet pictures. I love both pairs of sandals so much, the black are going to be perfect for everyday and the silver/gold pair will be great for any special occasions or when I just feel like dressing up a little.

M is happy too. Now I have a pair of sandals that go with dressy cocktails outfits and I won’t be towering over Michael in my chunky heels.

Can’t wait to conquer Hastings!
