Before shopping for what I termed “law school essentials,” Mumsies and I went to the Civic Center Farmer’s Market to grab the week’s produce for Michael and me. We saw Farmer Joe looking super svelte and strong with a giant box of tomatoes on his shoulder.

M’s role is to act as pack mule. I pick out veggies and fruit, he hauls it around after I pay for it. We got pretty good stuff today. Again, for $20.

Those melons in the back right of the picture are ridiculous. The huge one is a calabasas, I believe, and only cost $5. Insane. It was seriously gigantic. I split it in half with Mom. Coconut curry was on the menu tonight.
For extra flavor, I suffered through denuding my new basil plant. The leaves were so tasty, maybe it tastes better because I picked them myself. I hope more leaves spring up.

Nothing like farmer’s market fresh produce!

Jenn
