I write “Part One” in the title in hopes that there’ll be a Part Two. Mumsies, please? Take me to Nordstrom, please?
I can’t believe this, but law school starts two weeks from yesterday. Anxiety and nervousness are already acquaintances. Thankfully, Chelsea came over today and we had a girls’ shopping trip out down by Union Square. Chelsea was looking for groomsmen’s ties for her October wedding so the goal of the trip was to find replacements for the Men’s Wearhouse cheap-o ties she’s already bought.
We didn’t quite get there.
First up was Westfield shopping center where we got lunch courtesy of two complimentary lunch gift cards I got from the owner of Osha Thai restaurants last Sunday night. There are several established Osha Thai chains in San Francisco, but I think Coriander is a relatively new eatery in Westfield’s downstairs food court.

Yum. Pad Thai, spicy green beans, squash with tofu for me.
Bloomingdale’s shoe section sucked me in on our way out. Bad news for my bank account. Tory Burch Reva flats are now cozied up next to my other flats and pumps.
We were determined to make it to Ralph Lauren where Chelsea said she’d seen ties that could work with her coral, green, and mint colors. Unfortunately, Sephora winked at us as we walked by.

Fast forward two hours. Chelsea got a makeup consultation for her wedding and bought a berry lip lacquer and a self tanner/bronzer. I got two samples of foundation to try, Nars Laguna bronzer, Sephora nude lip gloss, and a Sephora waterproof eyeliner pot. While Chelsea chatted with the makeup artist and tried different eye shadows, I compulsively applied different cosmetics. I walked out looking like a tart.
I haven’t even started law school yet, and retail therapy has already begun.
Mumsies? Nordstrom? Bloomie’s? Please?
xoxo,
Jenn
