I have a feeling a lot of recent and near-future posts are going to start with “In India, I did/saw/ate/drank ____.”
So in keeping with that – in India, I drank a lot of masala Chai tea. Basically very sweet and milky chai or black tea. Delicious and kind of addictive. Since we got back on Tuesday morning, I’ve been trying to replicate this drink. With limited success.

Somehow boiling two teabags in soy milk and then pouring a buttload of honey in doesn’t quite translate into the same hot and comforting drink I had on the train from Mumbai to Goa.
Even though I haven’t been able to create the masala Chai, I have been able to use the awesome teacups I bought at Laad Bazaar near Charminar in Hyderabad. I actually bought three sets of teacups and brought them all home somehow without a single cup breaking. That’s 18 whole unbroken cups safely transported, my friends. They are small, about just right for an espresso with a sugar and a little cream, and remind me of Anthropologie-esque dishware.
One set for me, I’m keeping the clear glass set. The other two sets are souvenirs for friends.

Jenn
P.S. I’ve also been waking up at 5:30 a.m. every single morning. Early as balls.
