Actually, today is my second day at the dentist’s. I went in for a routine cleaning yesterday and my dentist, Dr. Emily Gentry who I absolutely love, found that I had two broken fillings I should fix as well as a cavity that needed to be filled. She’s a pretty awesome dentist. She always explains exactly what she’s doing and is very attuned to how I’m feeling.
Bleh. I hate teeth. Stupid little buggers.
Since my last day at work is the 15th (!), I told them I needed to get everything fixed between now and then so I could still be covered under my insurance. Thankfully, they were able to squeeze me in the very next day, today.
Not so thankfully, I had to get three fillings. >.<
Dr. Gentry fitted me out with a movie visor thing and I chose to watch Charlie Wilson’s War. I couldn’t hear much of what was going on in the film over the squeal and whine of drilling teeth. Between the smell of burning tooth dust, my intense hand-clenching, and the claustrophobia induced by the eye-shields, I couldn’t focus on anything but my molars.
It looked boring anyway.
After my dentist was done drilling and filling, she said that she’d throw in a bonus filling as a send-off to law school. I told you I really liked her. So she evened out my left front tooth – the silly tooth I chipped biting into a fork while scarfing a piece of cheesecake seven years ago. I’ve existed seven years with a slightly chipped front tooth.
But no longer.
Thanks to Dr. Gentry.
Although I am still out $500+ for the three fillings even after insurance!
Spending $1500+ on health care related costs these past six weeks has super sucked. I could’ve bought something so much more awesome than glasses and three new teeth.
xoxo,
Jenn
