Mashed potatoes in 12 steps.

1) Get potatoes out of crisper
2) Get big pot from next to stove, rinse out and fill halfway with water. Put on stove and heat on high.
3) Put a tsp of salt in water.
4) Wash potatoes REALLY well. No one wants a gritty mouthful of spuds.
5) Throw potatoes into pot.
6) Watch water get boily.
7) Turn down heat to low.
 8) Wait 20 minutes.
9) Stab a potato with a fork. Does it go through easily? You are done.
10) Drain water out.
11) Add a cup of soy milk and half a carton of sour cream.
12) Salt and pepper to taste.
I emailed those directions to M today. Directions for mashed potatoes. I planned on going to Bikram at 6:15 pm and knew I also had a ton of work to do tonight so dinner wasn’t at the top of my priorities.
When I got home, sweaty and miserable (I apparently wasn’t in the Bikram mood), M indeed had a pot of water and potatoes in it.
As soon as M saw me walk in the door though, his eyes lit up and he handed the potatoes back into my able hands.
I mashed them up and dinner was served.
I sometimes eat mashed potatoes with barbeque sauce. Is that weird?
xoxo,
