1) Get potatoes out of crisper2) Get big pot from next to stove, rinse out and fill halfway with water. Put on stove and heat on high.3) Put a tsp of salt in water.4) Wash potatoes REALLY well. No one wants a gritty mouthful of spuds.5) Throw potatoes into pot.6) Watch water get boily.7) Turn down heat to low.8) Wait 20 minutes.9) Stab a potato with a fork. Does it go through easily? You are done.10) Drain water out.11) Add a cup of soy milk and half a carton of sour cream.12) Salt and pepper to taste.
I emailed those directions to M today. Directions for mashed potatoes. I planned on going to Bikram at 6:15 pm and knew I also had a ton of work to do tonight so dinner wasn’t at the top of my priorities.
When I got home, sweaty and miserable (I apparently wasn’t in the Bikram mood), M indeed had a pot of water and potatoes in it.
As soon as M saw me walk in the door though, his eyes lit up and he handed the potatoes back into my able hands.I mashed them up and dinner was served.
