Sunshine picnic in the park.

It was a rare glorious day of sunshine in San Francisco today. I was hell-bent on picnicking in the park. There was no way I was going to stay indoors on such a gorgeous day. So I packed up some tuna salad, a TON of snacks, and M and I hit up Cala Foods to get some tomatoes and Goldfish en route to the park up by Sacramento and Franklin.I did buy the whole wheat ones. I’m not convinced that they taste different from the regular Goldfish and why not get some extra good grains into my diet whenever possible (even if it is through snacking on the little crackers). M was not happy. He says he is a Goldfish connoisseur from many years spent eating “the real thing.” Whatever, I’ll blind taste-test him and see if his expertise pans out.

I set out the food and we had ourselves a grand meal. We used to eat tuna packed in oil on crackers with a tomato slice on top in Costa Rica all the time when we vacationed there over Christmas and New Year’s of 2009/2010. I basically just tried to recreate that snack. A little Kerrygold Blarney cheese rounded out the yumminess. The CUTEST little dog came trotting over as soon as I popped the lid on the Tupperware holding the tuna. I think she wanted a bite too. So adorable. We didn’t give her any, but we did coo and pet her.

M and I ended up spending a few hours laying out there, snacking and reading. It was wonderful. What was not so wonderful was M’s giant sunburn that showed up a couple hours later.

Oh wow. These pictures don’t even do it justice. He is glowing. The hubris of the white American male. Never fails.

Hope you’re enjoying your weekend.

My first Sharks game.

I am really as unathletic as they come. I have no interest in sports nor any desire, or aptitude, to participate. But M is a huge sports fan. Seriously die-hard. So when he puts on his Niners, or his Giants, or his Sharks jersey, I know that he’s about to get his drink and cheering on. And I’ll be left by my lonesome at home. When M donned his Sharks jersey again today, I decided to at least give sports a shot. We went to meet up with Sean at the Fly Bar down on Larkin and Sutter, but as soon as the boys walked in, I knew we weren’t going to stay. There was no one in sports regalia nor was the Sharks game on any of the flat-screen TVs. We left immediately for Aces – a true sports bar. Dim, dark, TVs everywhere, and only a block from our apartment at Sutter and Hyde.

The boys ordered BJs to kick off the game. Haha. BJs. A Bud and a shot of Jameson. Clever huh? I guess it’s a thing for M and Sean to order a shot and a beer per period. It’s also a quick way to get blasted.

We got sandwiches from our favorite sandwich place, Bite, down the street to soak up some of the alcohol and went back to watch more of the game. I stayed for two periods and definitely had enough. There was this hilarious poster in the bathroom though.

Back home for me to an episode of House Hunters.

Happy weekend!
