Jack, one of M’s coworkers at Google, is a bit of a thespian. He’s English, has a ridiculous accent, and is an awesome actor. We went to watch him headline in “Lonestar” tonight at the Shelton theater on Sutter between Powell and Mason. He put on a fabulous Texan accent, played guitar and sang, and it was altogether quite impressive. The play, by the late James McLure, is about three Texans shooting the shit and dealing with deep life issues. It was super funny, touching, and deeply heartwarming.
The play was wonderful, but “the rager” afterward (Jack’s British slang for “party”) was almost even more fun. The audience, director, actors, production crew – everyone - stayed after and had a rocking good time. I loved it. I also loved throwing every English imitation I had up my sleeve at Jack. Oh man, that poor guy. He must get it from everyone. Us silly Americans can’t help it. I see his charming British face and the first thing that pops out of my mouth is:
“Oh ‘ello guvnah! Top o’ the morning to ya!”
Of course, following that came “Did ya learn that at Hogwarts?,” “A spot of tea eh?” and other similar lovely one-liners.
I think I may be taking my first acting class at the end of March.

Jenn
