Sometimes I cook the same thing and M gets some meat separately. Other times I cook two completely different dishes and we both get to eat what we want.
Usually my two-dish nights are reserved for evenings when I have a little more time, am a little more relaxed, and am feeling extravagant.
Tonight was not one of those nights.
I went in to Maneframe for a haircut not really knowing what I wanted. I’m one of those girls who always want a big change. Last time, I went in and bobbed my long, long hair. Kind of sad, but definitely something I’ve wanted forever. I loved it, but of course want long hair again. So this time, I decided my “big change” was going to be bangs while I grow out my bob. Full-on, straight across bangs ala Project Runway’s Heidi Klum or Glee’s Rachel Berry.
Poor life choice. Perhaps it’s the way it was blown out. My usual stylist Doug was at choir practice so he booked me with another stylist. Meh. I miss Doug. Hopefully when I straighten it tomorrow and fluff it myself, it’ll calm down a little and not be so rounded and poofy. Please God.
Anyway, by the time I got home, it was definitely not one of my two-dish nights.
But I was so distracted by my bangs, I prepped for two dishes. A veggie, kabocha squash dish for me and a tomato beef ragout over rice for M.
I had a side of cantaloupe on the side and ketchup over my kabocha. The veggies were seasoned with Bragg’s Amino Acids, soy sauce, honey, and a little cumin. Mmm…and of course, a beer. So I wouldn’t have to remember my bangs.
Then I cooked M’s dish.
Added in a cup of leftover jarred tomato sauce.
He loved it.
We ate accompanied by Heidi Klum’s glorious voice, lovely clothes, and tons of drama.
NEW YORK TOMORROW!!!
xoxo,
Jenn
