Lunching at the Grove.

Instead of our weekly Southwestern Corn Chowder date, Scot wanted to eat at the Grove today. I have been to the other location in the Fillmore a few months back and remembered it being quaint, rustic and pretty delicious.

The Grove’s downtown branch is just as good.

The interior is larger and somehow even more wood-filled than its Fillmore sibling, but the menu is the same.

After a long debate during which time Scot bounced from one foot to the other needling me to hurry up because he was starving, I ordered the veggie burger with a side salad and a watermelonade, one of their special drinks today.

Scot got his chicken pot pie that he has been talking up for days.

And we both wanted pie so decided to split an apple slice.

Burger? Amazing. The roll it was on was chewy and toasty, and everything was super fresh. Too bad the hard toasted bits on the edges felt like kitty litter in my still swollen throat.

I still ate it.

Not only was my drink beautiful, it tasted crisp, lightly sweet, and very juicy. I like.

Scot ate his pot pie in silence, too caught up in the chickeny scent to care about what I was saying. As usual.

Pie? Meh. I would not get it again. The crust was way too crumbly and flaky. It just fell apart like dust in my mouth.

I think we may switch from our weekly Soup Co. outings to Grove outings for a while. The food is fantastic and the ambiance so cute.

xoxo,

Jenn
