Scot has refused to go get Soup Co.’s delicious Southwestern Corn Chowder with me ever since I broke our weekly lunch date to see our ex-coworker Jen. I went to the Financial District with only good intentions – I was not going to get the seductively smoky soup because I knew Scot would be mad, but once at the counter, looking at that steaming pot, I broke.
I sheepishly told him and he sputtered, raged, and finally, this came out.
“You SCCheater!!!”
Yes, I am sorry Scot. I SCCheated.
And it tasted good.
However, today he finally relented and off to FiDi we went. Sad to say, I am on a mission to clean up my diet and have decided to stay away from refined carbs and sugar. And guess what is in SCC?
Flour.
I cried inside.
So instead I got Split Pea soup and a wheat seedy roll instead of my usual baguette hunk.
The whole “not eating refined carb deal” was not hard at all until now as Scot was a jerk needling me the entire time with slow bites of SCC.
Then, to crush my soul even more, he went and got a Specialty’s milk chocolate cookie and waved it around in my face as he crammed the warm gooeyness into his mouth.
I was so jealous. Horribly jealous since even though the absence of refined carbs has not bothered me one bit, not eating sugar has been the hardest thing ever.
I want that cookie. In my mouth. Now.
But instead, I was the best girlfriend on earth and bought M a peanut butter chocolate chip cookie, refrained from eating it all day, and have it waiting on top of the fridge for M to get back from Vegas.
A+
xoxo,
Jenn
