Today was my third time lunching at Google. I heart Google.
This is the view from the cafeteria.
I was really craving sushi, especially when it is free, so I focused mostly on that.
Front and center is raw tuna. Behind it are some slices of octopus. And clockwise around it is seaweed salad, two pieces of what they called a “Hot Mess” roll, a piece of halibut, asparagus, ratatouille, edamame and green pea salad, and two pieces of beet.
The “Hot Mess” baked roll had “parmesan, tempura crunchies, ahi tuna, crab, avocado, rice, nori, mirin, vinegar, cucumber, sriracha, mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, unagi sauce.” I am not familiar with “tempura crunchies” but they were awesome.
The only thing I did not finish were the chewy octopi.
On the side was Carrot Beer soup. Thick, creamy and undercut by a sharp, yeasty, beer flavor. Totally amazing on the first few bites, but toward the end, the sour tang was overwhelming and I had to put my spoon down.
But in the back, I had two shots waiting. On the left – blackberry, ginger, and asian pear. On the right was the most deliciously crisp and refreshing juice ever – mango, pineapple, and raspberry. I might have snuck another shot while M was getting dessert.
What a dessert it was. You know how much I love cupcakes.
This was a chocolate cupcake with marshmallow topping that was torched until caramelized. You can see how parts of the wax paper were burnt off.
If there is anything I love more than cupcakes, it is chocolate-covered marshmallows on a stick. And this was like both, in one.
I dream about the next Google luncheon. M, can I come again? Monday? Or Tuesday? Or how about every day?
xoxo,
Jenn
